My wife and I get asked often how much do we charge for our DJ and Photography services? With so many vendors out there and technology making it easy for anyone to call themselves a DJ or Photographer, here are some numbers every bride should know about the cost for a wedding within the capital district, Saratoga Springs, and Albany areas.
After a little research I did, here are some numbers to consider when booking services for your wedding.
Overall cost - $36,646 with $18,939 of that going to the venue.
DJ Entertainment - Average cost is $719 - $1199 - Spending for well experienced professionals $1439 - $1918
Photography - Average cost is $1574 - $2624 - Spending for well experienced professionals $3149 - $4198
Basic cost for DJ are usually a set number of hours, set up and break down, equipment needed, travel, plus any consultation fees. Depending on your needs for your wedding, additional costs maybe a second or third sound system needed for your cocktail hour or ceremony, dance floor lighting and special effects, up lighting, and possible overtime if the party is going well and you want to keep the music going.
Basic cost for Photography are usually a set number of hours and/or photos, basic editing of your images, and usually a DVD or thumb drive of all your images that you can print from. Additional costs would be for photo albums for yourselves or parents. Photo albums will greatly vary in price depending how fancy they are, and if they are a one of kind customized album, or the album is designed from a template. Other fees could include online viewing, overtime , second or third shooter, lighting assistant, additional or special editing, and multiple locations. Some photographers do not include the rights to your photos and make you purchase them.
Some things to keep in mind are not all DJs are weddings DJs, and not all Photographers are wedding Photographers. There are special skill sets in both that come from only seasoned and experienced professionals. There are so many details to a wedding that we can't even begin to go over. It is surprising the amount of times we have met with brides and grooms we hear, "we didn't think about that" and we hear that time and time again. Of course, we invite any couples who have not booked either their DJ or Photographer to fill out our contact form for a free consultation and meet with either of us. One last thing to keep in mind, do not have a friend or family member do your wedding. We have heard so many stories over the years with friendships being dissolved, and tensions happening in a family if things didn't go well. Besides, wouldn't rather have your friend or family member joining you in your celebration and enjoying your special day?
